Backyard bubbles

It really is true that the backyard is where all the magic happens. Catching lightning bugs, picking violets for my mom, taking my dad water while he cut the HUGE yardful of grass, climbing trees, making clover necklaces, jumping on the trampoline, picking fresh vegetables from the garden...just a few of my top memories from my backyard growing up. Hopefully these little guys will have fond memories of the backyard at PawPaw and MawMaw's, blowing bubbles and making new friends with doggies. Here are Eden, June, and Jackson enjoying a summer evening in the South.
These guys love each other a lot, and make going to the park a really fun and memorable occasion! We try to make the best of our times together, whenever they might be!

Abby and Eden came to visit us at camp this week, and we had a great time riding golf carts, walking by the lake, eating fresh blueberries right off the bush, swimming, and playing on the playground! Yay Woodland!

The little guys just can't stay off the stairs, which Jack now has a knot on his head to prove...

Well here is Jackson, eh hem, a few months later...having a ball with his new toy in our yard. He is "into everything" now...his loves include: being outside at camp or just about anywhere, swimming, playing with cousins, watching Thomas the Train/Backyardigans/Curious George, cars, trucks, etc. He recently picked up the word "awesome," and never ceases to make us laugh with all of his little Jackson-ian ways. We are having a terrific summer, spending most of our days taking walks and playing at camp. This week has been extra fun, as cousin Eden and Aunt Abby have been in town and we have gotten to spend lots of time with them. See pics below =).

Hello to anyone who still occasionally swings by my much-to-my-dismay-not-updated-blogspot! Jackson is now 18 months old! We had a wonderful Easter with various family gatherings and church services to honor our risen Savior and enjoy the egg hunts that also take place at this time of year.
Abby and Eden came into town Easter evening and just left yesterday...all 7 cousins were at Mom and Dad's Saturday evening...a rare, but really fun gathering! I love my family so much and feel so blessed to be able to enjoy this time of year with many of the fam! Much love to the ones I did not get to be around...

Well, tonight I gave in to the fact that Jackson's hair was getting a little bit...unruly. As much as I am wanting to cry about him looking way too much like a little boy now instead of a hippie baby, it does look pretty cute. Today I celebrated 28 years of life. It was a great day, spent with family, food, and even a little napping! As you can see...much of the days now are spent chasing around this extremely busy 9 month old, who has just about mastered crawling, and thinks he can walk on his own...thanks for the calls, cards, food, and love.

Jason, Jackson, and I just returned from a wonderful trip to El Paso/Juarez. Jason built a house with Pete for the first time with the group from Southwest Christian Church (pics to come...). Abby, Eden, Jackson, and I hung out in El Paso and waited for the daddys to return while we played! As you can see, the kids are really discovering each other.

Well, here it is nearly June. I apologize to the faithful blog-checkers...I have not been blog savvy over the past few months due to a password issue I did not take the time to fix. Well, Jackson will be 6 months old this Wednesday. How cliche, but the time has gone by very fast...we have, with great purposefulness, enjoyed him so much over these last 6 months and look forward to each new day as a family. Here he is enjoying oatmeal cereal and squash. He has tried a variety of foods, and like a lot of kids, HATES green vegetables thus far. We are working on it. Sweet potatoes seem to be the best thing he ever ate. Such fun times.

As you can see, our little guy has not suffered for being loved on and spoiled over the past 2 weeks. He has managed to get his jaundiced self back to normal (no lights! yay!), lost most of his cord that was left, and enjoyed many visits from friends and family. Thanks so much for all the food, help, midnight rocking, etc. We love you!

Here he is! Jackson Lanier Westbrook arrived via c-section Wednesday night, October 4, 2006 @ 7:07 pm. He weighs 7lb and is 20 1/2 inches long. We thank everyone for your prayers, calls, visits, food, and love. Enjoy these few pics, I promise more to come...
